Brius Technologies’ continues to enhance its biomechanically superior back-of-the-teeth system that uses Independent Mover® technology to straighten crooked teeth swiftly and efficiently

Using a special resin coating, Brius Technologies has enhanced the patient comfort of its Brava appliance, which uses pre-programmed arms to correct all types of orthodontic malocclusions. The company’s patented biomechanical back-of-the-teeth system predicts tooth movement based on the doctor’s treatment plan and then delivers independent and simultaneous movement of teeth to achieve the patient’s desired smile.

“With all tooth-moving forces coming from the back side of the teeth, the new coating on Brava provides a softer touch for the tongue during orthodontic treatment,” says Ruedger Rubbert, Chief Technology Officer at Brius Technologies. “No other system uses the combination of nickel titanium material with its shape memory features and a resin coating with surface smoothing features.”

Previously, in August of 2023, the anchorage base of the Brava appliance, which is the platform that drives independent tooth movement, was enhanced with a beveled edge designed for patient comfort. “The combination of rounding the edges and providing a soft coating on Brava has led to improved patient acceptance and shortens the adjustment period by several weeks,” says Jeffrey Smith, Director of Product Development at Brius Technologies. “Anything placed inside the mouth that moves teeth is uncomfortable for the first few weeks of treatment, but the softer the surface the faster the patient adjusts to the system.”

The Brava System offers an “invisible” orthodontic solution with great aesthetics and biomechanical efficiency. Typically, only one or two staged Brava appliances are required to complete treatment unlike plastic aligners, which typically require 20 – 50 stages to complete treatment. Each aligner has its own adjustment period, so changing aligners every 1-2 weeks leads to frequent adjustment periods over many months. When Brava is first engaged, all teeth in treatment start to move in all directions all at once, offering the most efficient method for straightening teeth with a shorter adjustment period.
